Mausloeum of Galla Placidia
The Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, built in 425 A.D., with its unique early Christian mosaics, is one of the eight amazing UNESCO World Heritage sites in the city of Ravenna.
On October 25th at 6:00 PM, the exhibition “Dittico” will open, marking the debut of niArt Gallery’s renewed artistic project. Under the direction of Giovanni Gardini, the gallery aims to foster a close dialogue between the different creative cycles of Felice Nittolo’s art and the leading figures of contemporary art from various generations.
niArt Gallery is a space dedicated to contemporary art, with a special focus on the mosaic technique. With a refreshed vision and the involvement of external curators, the gallery seeks to offer new ways of experiencing contemporary art, enhancing the connection between cultural heritage and the local territory.
The first artistic dialogue within the “Dittico” exhibition is entrusted to Luca Freschi, who engages in a conversation with Nittolo’s work. The comparison between Nittolo’s Coca-Cola series from the 1990s and Freschi’s Breviari creates a rich interplay of pop references. The Breviari, as memory spaces, are characterized by a few elements which, in the interaction between the frame and the oval shape within it, generate unique solutions each time. The Coca-Cola pieces, on the other hand, appear as containers of tesserae, becoming part of a larger and more original mosaic.
On the occasion of the “Dittico” exhibition, niArt Gallery will also feature a new permanent exhibition offering a significant overview of Felice Nittolo’s fifty-year career. This exhibition highlights the diverse languages explored by the artist throughout his career, showcasing how his work represents a continuous search, always dedicated to a deep exploration of the mosaic world.
