Mausloeum of Galla Placidia
The Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, built in 425 A.D., with its unique early Christian mosaics, is one of the eight amazing UNESCO World Heritage sites in the city of Ravenna.
On Sundays at 5:00 p.m., a guide will lead you through an exploration of the themes of the exhibition I’m a Mosaic! – From Severini, Sironi, and Fontana to Paladino, Plessi, and Samorì, on display at the MAR – Ravenna Art Museum, from October 27, 2024, to January 12, 2025.
This journey begins with the origins of the mosaic revival, which took place in Ravenna in the 1920s, and traverses the pivotal experiences of the 1950s, culminating in the striking interpretations of mosaic tiles in contemporary art.
