About

Born in Alfonsine in 1961, Tinarelli lives in Carrara, and periodically in Bordeaux (France), where he opened an atelier in Biganos from 1991 to 2022. He graduated from the State Institute of Mosaic Art in 1980 and from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna in 1984. Since the 1980s he took part in numerous solo and group exhibitions, in Italy and abroad, in public spaces and private galleries. His aesthetic interests range from the experimentation of pictorial languages to plastic ones, with particular and intense activity in the field of artistic mosaic, this latter developed in various areas of research. He has organised specific conferences and lectures on mosaic as a contemporary aesthetic re-possibility. He collaborates with artists and designers on their mosaic projects. In the 1990s he collaborated with theatre director Ezio Cuoghi and Giorgio Celli on three shows at the Video Arte centre in Ferrara and the Physics Department of the same city. He has taught at various Institutes and Academies. Since 1992 he has taught Ornamental Plastic and Mosaic Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara; from 2012-2017 he was appointed to teach Mosaic Techniques at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna.
